About this place
At Chosuiyo, the lu rou fan is topped with a large piece of pork that seems to spill over the rim of its small bowl. The lunch set, available for 1,200 yen to eat in, features a bowl of rice with a chunk of pork, prepared in the style of Tainan in southern Taiwan. Some diners have praised the restrained use of spices such as star anise and the pork’s tenderness, saying it breaks apart with chopsticks; others have found the texture different. The bowl may look small, but reports say the rice is packed in, making it more filling than it appears. Rather than mixing everything together, you could move some of the pork aside to eat the rice, or transfer the food to a small plate.
Diners have reported that the set comes with medicinal-herb soup, pickles and a small side dish, making it a lunch built around lu rou fan. Lunch is served from 11:00 to 14:00, and a lu rou fan bento is also listed for takeaway at 1,000 yen.
After lunch, the café menu is available from 14:00 to 17:00. Douhua costs 800 yen to eat in or 600 yen to take away; a set of douhua with Chinese tea is 1,600 yen for dining in. Payment is cash only, and reservations are not accepted, so allow some flexibility if you are coming for the lunch set.
